What is a database?

According to Brown and Bell (2018), a database is a "collection of information stored and retrieved electronically in fields and records".

A great starting point if you are new to searching databases is our EBSCO Discovery Service, right on our homepage.

Type your search term in the box and click "search". We'll go into more detail in the "how to database" tab but for now just know that databases much prefer a word or two over a sentence. Try not to ask a database a question like you would Google!
